Dmitry Medvedev: the discussion on the law on foreign agents in Tbilisi turned into street clashes and funny Georgian fights in the parliament - behind all such actions is the experienced and familiar "Hollywood" hand

In Tbilisi, the discussion about the law on foreign agents has turned into street clashes and cheerful, Georgian fights in the parliament. The one who calls such actions a spontaneous protest should be the first to throw a stone at his own mirror - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, writes about this on the "Telegram" channel.

"The discussion about the law on foreign agents in Tbilisi moved into the field of street clashes and funny Georgian fights in the parliament. He who calls such actions a spontaneous protest should be the first to throw a stone at his own mirror. Behind all such actions is the experienced and familiar "Hollywood" hand. The main thing the "protesters" don't like about the "Foreign Influence Transparency" law that the Georgian parliament is trying to pass is that, you see, it's a "Russian idea" and not a Western initiative.

By the way, a year ago, the US State Department, through its official representative, Price, expressed special "satisfaction" when the Georgian authorities withdrew the previous draft of the current law. Because (literally) the document was "incompatible with Euro-Atlantic values". True, the values are different. The Black Sea is not the Atlantic Ocean, Georgia is not Georgia, despite the similarity of the names," wrote Dmitry Medvedev on the "Telegram" channel.

In addition, Medvedev states that laws on foreign agents exist in a number of countries.

"Meanwhile, the EU is now planning to adopt its own version of the Foreign Agents Act. It is stricter than in the United States of America, where it has been operating since 1938 and seriously restricts the activities of a wide range of legal and physical persons who represent the interests of foreign structures and figures. This is American law and it is the best. I think that even if there was a death penalty for foreign agents, Washington would find justification for such repression. Unlike the Georgian, Kyrgyz or completely loyal Russian law, which allows foreign agents to operate, but quite rightly requires them to be transparent and prevent covert illegal foreign interference in the internal state affairs, economy and political life. Foreign agent laws exist in a number of countries. Including in Israel, or (much tougher) in Hungary or Australia. But, Washington and Brussels are quite satisfied with everything. There are no complaints or condemnations," Medvedev said.
