With the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and diplomatic missions of Georgia abroad, the Independence Day of Georgia - May 26, will be celebrated in more than 70 cities of the world, in the period of May-June, with various events.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in connection with the Independence Day, traditionally, various landmarks of the world will be illuminated in the colors of the Georgian flag.
"It should be noted that as part of the events dedicated to May 26, the Frederick Douglass Bridge in Washington will be illuminated with the colors of the Georgian flag. In addition, Washington City Hall and the Mayor will issue a proclamation regarding Georgia's Independence Day.
Also, in New York, the Georgian flag and the Independence Day logo will be displayed on the screen at Time Square. In the city of San Francisco, the Georgian flag will be raised on the city hall building.
In connection with the Independence Day, the building of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg will be illuminated in the colors of the national flag of Georgia.
In France, it is planned to light up the 17th arrondissement of Paris with the colors of the Georgian flag, and in Spain, the city of Madrid - the lighting of Sibelius Square, and the central squares of Seville and Bilbao are also planned to be illuminated”, reads the statement.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various events will be held in other countries as well.
