Grigol Gegelia: Ahead of the foreign ministerial, Europe is talking not only about visa sanctions, but also about taking financial measures

According to Grigol Gegelia, a member of Lelo, the resolution adopted by ALDE clearly calls on the governments of the European Union to impose sanctions on all the leaders of Georgian Dream who undermine Georgian democracy.

As Gegelia notes, ahead of the foreign ministerial, Europe is talking not only about visa sanctions, but also about taking financial and economic measures.

"Today, ALDE adopted a critical resolution, which was initiated by ten different parties of 9 member states of the European Union.

The document initiated by the leading parties of Europe clearly calls on the governments of the European Union to impose sanctions on all the leaders of the Georgian Dream who undermine Georgian democracy and our European path, Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family members, as well as representatives of the power institutions, who undermine the fundamental principles of peaceful demonstrators and trample democratic rights.

At the same time, the resolution calls on the European states, in case of holding the elections in a non-free regime, to fundamentally review the relations with Georgia, and among them, to review the visa-free travel.

Ahead of the foreign ministerial, Europe is talking not only about visa sanctions, but also about taking financial and economic measures. Everyone who is involved in the Russian special operation and betrays the historical foreign choice of the Georgian nation will receive an appropriate response from both the USA and the European Union," Gegelia said.
