There are 106 days left before the elections. We must be able to do the impossible, we must work 24 hours a day in order to have the most effective campaign, - Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the United National Movement and one of the leaders of the Unity platform, told journalists.
Bokuchava introduced her deputies - Zaza Gogava and Igor Narmania at the briefing.
She also called on the women's organization of the party to elect a chairwoman who will be her third deputy.
"The victory of the opposition in the October 26 elections is the only chance to save the country. I believe that our country will win with unity, common efforts, and teamwork, and our country's Euro-Atlantic choice will be saved. There are 106 days left before the elections. We must do the impossible, we must work 24 hours a day to have the most efficient campaign, the most efficient organizational structure for this election, which has a decisive role for our country and our Euro-Atlantic future. I am glad that Zaza Gogava will lead this highly responsible work with me as my deputy. At the same time, I made a decision to appoint Igor Narmania, the chairman of the youth organization of the National Movement, as deputy. This is an institutional decision that serves to open the party to the youth as much as possible. Igor has always stood on the front line during the protest movement, and despite being arrested twice, despite the fact that a criminal case has been opened against him, he has always stood and will continue to guard the European future of our country. I am proud that we are comrades.
On the same principle, I also made an institutional decision and I ask the women's organization of the National Movement to elect a new chairwoman, a role I had held since 2017, which makes me very proud. The candidate selected by them will also occupy the position of my deputy.
While Bidzina Ivanishvili's party excludes women from politics, they canceled women's quota, excludes them from the parliament, economy, country. As 70% of those in forced emigration in EU member states are women, our goal is to promote women's participation in politics as much as possible. Therefore, on my initiative, we also introduced an amendment to the party charter, according to which at least 30% of the party electoral lists will be made up of women. I believe our today's initiatives will strengthen our common efforts to bring victory to our country in the October 26 elections," - said Tina Bokuchava.
