Our European path is a path together with our Abkhaz and Ossetian fellow citizens. A path that begins with reconciliation. A path that distinguishes between brotherhood and enmity, desire for war and regret for war, perpetrator of war and victim of war. This path is both difficult and easy - said Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, during his speech at the regional event of the "Georgian Dream" election campaign in Rustavi.
According to the chairman of the parliament, the way is easy if we think about the love that was and is between Georgians, Abkhazians and Ossetians. According to him, this is what the opposition is against, and this is what they have said in recent days with their bare nationalist rhetoric and their search for excuses against reconciliation.
According to Papuashvili, obtaining a constitutional majority by the "Georgian Dream" is the only way to unify the country.
"It is difficult if we only think about the pain that we have caused to each other by word or deed, intentionally or by indifference. It's difficult if we just shut up this pain, we don't share ours and we don't share it with others, we don't punish and we don't forgive. But this path is easy if we think about the love that was and is between us. About our common families, our common shrines, our proud common past and repeating it again. This is exactly what the opposition is against. This is what they have been saying in recent days with their bare-bones nationalist rhetoric and excuse-making against reconciliation. They themselves have confirmed that there is zero chance that they will play any constructive role in the constitutional process necessary for the smoothing of the country. That's why getting the constitutional majority by the "Georgian Dream" is the only way to unify the country", said Shalva Papuashvili.
