The CEC requests an explanation from the presidential administration

The election administration responds to the statement of the administration of the President of Georgia regarding the opening of election precincts abroad, in which baseless and discrediting accusations were voiced against the election administration.

CEC publishes a statement about this.

According to their reports, the presidential administration accuses the election administration of making a discriminatory decision, thus contributing to the discrediting campaign carried out by interested parties against the agency.

"The election administration appeals to the president's administration to explain to the public the specific norm or procedure of the legislation that was violated by the Central Election Commission during the creation of election precincts abroad, to name the arguments based on which they consider the decision of the CEC to be discriminatory. The election administration explained to the representatives of the President's administration and personally to the President many times within the framework of meetings of different formats the regulations that the law envisages regarding the opening of election precincts abroad. Accordingly, they are well aware that election precincts abroad are created based on the data provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was with the strict observance of the legislation that 60 election precincts were created in 42 countries at the CEC session on September 26. A district was created wherever there was a legal basis for it. Presenting legal decisions in a discriminatory manner is nothing but deliberate discrediting of the agency and damage to the election process.

The administration of the President missed one important detail, if it were not for the meticulous observance of the law requirements by a number of CEC members, more than 65,000 voters in 42 countries would have been left without the opportunity to vote due to the politically motivated position of some CEC members. However, as can be seen from the statement, an illegal but politically motivated position is more acceptable for the president's administration than compliance with the law," the information released by the CEC states.

We call on the President and her representatives to stop politically motivated attacks on the election administration, attempts to create wrong perceptions for the voters, and thus respect the voters, both inside and outside the country. Elections are a common affair and taking care of a healthy election environment is the duty of all parties involved in it.
