We made a decision to give Merab Dvalishvili, as well as Ilia Tofuria, who brought the first title of UFC champion to Georgia, a monetary reward in the amount of one million GEL for each of them, - it is mentioned in the statement of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the head of the government, sports success and the victory won for the country need proper appreciation.

"Georgian athletes achieve unprecedented success in various sports, the last example of which was Merab Dvalishvili winning the title of UFC champion. Today, 2 of the 8 active UFC champions are Georgians, which best represents the fighting spirit of Georgians. Such a result, together with 4-million Georgia, only 200-million Brazil has, which is a matter of special pride for every Georgian. Ilia Tofuria and Merab Dvalishvili showed the fighting character of the Georgian man trained for 3000 years and this reminded us all that wherever we fight with dignity, no one can defeat us Georgians.
