During the presentation of Georgian Dream's election program, Irakli Kobakhidze, head of the election staff, announced that by 2028, the average salary in Georgia is projected to reach 3,500 GEL.
Kobakhidze compared this to 2012, when the average salary was 712.5 GEL, noting that it has since increased to 2,005 GEL as of today.
He emphasized the importance of wage growth alongside employment, stating that current economic trends indicate a continued rise in wages.
"Along with employment, it is very important to increase wages, and in this regard we had a rather difficult situation - 712.5 GEL was the average wage in our country in 2012. According to today's data, this figure has increased to 2005 GEL. This figure has now exceeded 2000 GEL. Under the current trends, the average salary will increase to 3,500 GEL by 2028.
As for these data, these data are infallible for one simple reason, when we are talking about the data of 2024, these figures are what will be reflected in the final budget of the country. People pay income tax, the number of employed people increases, their wages and incomes increase, and this is how the country's budget increases. These data are absolutely correct, as well as the forecast - 3,500 GEL is an absolutely real forecast that we can talk about by 2028," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
