Ana Natsvlishvili: This is a shameful page in the history of the Constitutional Court and legal proceedings - I have no doubt that people will rewrite this shameful page during the October 26 elections and turn it into a victory

This is a shameful page in the history of the constitutional court and proceedings of this country, but I have no doubt that the Georgian people will rewrite this shameful page in the elections of October 26 and turn it into a victory, - one of the leaders of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, Ana Natsvlishvili, said while evaluating the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the "Transparency of foreign influence law”.

According to her, the Constitutional Court could not and did not protect Article 78 of the Constitution.

"I want to respond to the historical shame of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. Today, the Constitutional Court continued the path of the government serving Russia, and those judges who did not dare to defend the Constitution of Georgia added themselves to the list of 84 Russian deputies who signed the "Russian Law". This is a shameful page in the history of the constitutional court and proceedings of this country, but I have no doubt that the Georgian people will rewrite this shameful page in the October 26 elections and turn it into a victory. The Constitutional Court could not and did not protect Article 78 of the Constitution and thereby denied tens of thousands of citizens of Georgia and the unshakable will recorded in the Constitution that the future of this country is in the European Union. Therefore, when the executive, legislative and now judicial authorities do not and cannot protect the country's constitution, the right and obligation to protect the constitution belong to the citizens. Yes, this decision once again emphatically and finally confirms that the only one in whose hands is the saving of the European future of Georgia, these are the citizens of Georgia, and this day will come very soon on October 26. I am sorry that the Constitutional Court showed disgraceful cowardice, but I am glad that even in this situation exceptional judges appeared who made a decision to protect the Constitution," said Natsvlishvili.

For information, the Constitutional Court of Georgia did not meet the request to suspend the law "On transparency of foreign influence". In addition, the court recognized the submitted lawsuits as partially admissible, which means that their substantive discussions will begin.
