All this is gross interference in the country's internal affairs, disrespect for our constitution and sovereignty, and disregard for the UN charter, one of the deputy chairmen of the "Georgian Dream" faction, Levan Machavariani, told reporters about the resolution supported in the Bundestag, which was about the issue of Georgia.
According to him, the second and third ranked parties in Germany did not support the resolution supported in the Bundestag.
"This resolution was not supported by the parties ranked second and third in Germany. We were disgusted with democracy in Georgia and cannot give an argument as to why there is a decline in democracy in Georgia. All the ratings and indexes published by the most authoritarian Western organizations during those three-four months, when we are upset with democracy, all show that Georgia has the highest standard of democracy. With 11 years of continuous democratic process, Georgia takes the first place not only in the region, but also in Europe as a whole. Also, regarding the transparency law, we have not yet heard an argument as to which part does not correspond to European values. If they don't like the anti-LGBT propaganda law, maybe they can explain here what they don't like.
All this is gross interference in the country's internal affairs, disrespect for our constitution and sovereignty, and disregard for the UN Charter. No one has the right, especially in the pre-election period, to intervene so rudely (I am talking about external actors). It is a direct lustration that they are doing this in order to somehow overcome the barrier of the radical opposition parties led by them", said Levan Machavariani.
For information, the German Bundestag supported the resolution on the issue of Georgia - "For the European future of Georgia". As mentioned in the resolution, the authoritarian and anti-European course, which the current government of Georgia has taken, deliberately puts the European future of Georgia at risk. The document mentions that under the so-called "transparency of foreign influence" law, there will be no further progress in the process of joining the European Union. The role of the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream" is emphasized here, and it is said that the goal of maintaining Bidzina Ivanishvili's power is higher than Georgia's European future and democratic stability.
