Anyone who has eyes and can see can clearly see the success that the country has achieved in the last 12 years. Today, it can be safely said that the foundations of economically strong Georgia have been laid and the walls have been removed, said Shalva Papuashvili, member of the political council of "Georgian Dream", chairman of the parliament, at an event held as part of the election campaign in Zugdidi.
According to Papuashvili, today the people, from whom the current government took over "economically ruined Georgia", are demanding votes from the population. According to his own statement, in 2012, as a result of the rule of the "National Movement", a million people were unemployed and poor, and an authoritarian regime was created in the country.
"Today, the opposition, from which we took over the politically and economically ruined Georgia, is demanding votes from the people. No matter how much their foreign patrons hug in their hearts, we know very well who we are dealing with. We know very well what kind of Georgia they left in 2012. A country of three and a half million people, where a million people were unemployed and poor; A country that was lagging even in the region in terms of economic development; A country where an authoritarian regime based on human torture and oppression was created; The country that narrowly escaped the new war in 2004, but in 2008 was engulfed in the flames of war," Papuashvili said.
According to him, the mentioned situation was changed in 2012 by the decisive vote of the population and returned hope to the Georgian people.
"In 2012, your decisive vote changed all this and restored hope to the Georgian people. By standing together, we have halved unemployment and tripled poverty, with nearly half a million people already out of poverty; In terms of economic growth rates, we are in the first place not only in the region, but in Europe as well - with a tripled economy, tripled budget, tripled average salary," said Shalva Papuashvili.
