According to the MEP, the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream", Bidzina Ivanishvili, is "the most important reason why Georgia is in such a difficult situation".
"Of course, Bidzina Ivanishvili is one of, or I would say, the most important reason why Georgia is in such a difficult situation. I mean the future path of Georgia. We see that what he says, what decisions his government takes, are incompatible with the requirements and values of the European Union.
Further steps towards [EU] membership, both official and unofficial, are on hold because of what Georgian Dream is doing. All their actions show that they are not following the necessary steps [for EU membership]. You cannot be in favor of Europe and the Kremlin at the same time. In addition, as Rasa Juknevičienė said in the same interview about the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on October 9, "Bribery of votes is not a European value and it does not happen in the European Parliament."
"As for the payment of money and other charges. I'm afraid they ["Georgian Dream"] think about others as they behave themselves. If they believe that it is possible to bribe votes here, as Bidzina Ivanishvili is trying to do, then I will say that these are not European values and this does not happen in the European Union Parliament. Almost 500 [parliamentarians] voted [for the resolution]. This is a big thing, it's a message, and it's impossible to buy such a thing," the European parliamentarian told "Voice of America".
