Grigol Liluashvili, the head of Georgia’s State Security Service, dismissed allegations related to a recording distributed by "Kiber Kmara," calling the claims orchestrated nonsense and part of the pre-election campaign.
Responding to rumors circulated by "Kiber Kmara" involving Ekaterine Khvedelidze, the wife of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairperson of "Georgian Dream," Liluashvili ridiculed the claims. He referred to the allegations as "funny" and unworthy of investigation, adding that such "TV series" are part of a larger orchestrated effort tied to the election period. He also mentioned that the claims attempt to accuse Georgia’s special services of eavesdropping on politicians and their families.
"They are making up a thousand nonsense, we are waiting for many more TV series, especially during the pre-election period," Liluashvili stated. He added that this isn’t the first time they’ve seen such "serials" and questioned what should even be investigated, saying, "What crime did you see either in the conversation, or what was the important topic of the conversation between two private individuals, to make it a subject of investigation?"
The controversy stems from a story aired on "TV Pirveli" that allegedly involved the State Security Service and the Ivanishvili family in a wiretapping scandal. Liluashvili dismissed the recording’s authenticity and suggested that such claims were part of a larger, organized campaign to create chaos ahead of the elections.
