Kakha Kaladze: Legal response to August War crucial for Georgia's future stability

The executive secretary of the Georgian Dream party, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze emphasized the importance of addressing unanswered questions regarding the August war. Speaking at a campaign event in Kutaisi, Kaladze called for legal accountability to ensure that no future government puts the country at risk, stressing the need for peace, stability, and Georgia’s continued progress.

Kaladze stressed that peace and stability are crucial for Georgia's future, particularly after the devastation caused by the August war. He pointed out the nation's collective trauma and the importance of holding those responsible accountable.

"It is our duty not to leave unanswered questions and to give a legal response to the case of the August war, so that no government dares to destroy and put the country at risk," Kaladze stated. He underscored the significance of learning from past mistakes to safeguard Georgia’s future.

Kaladze highlighted that Georgia has always been a peace-loving nation with immense potential, especially among its youth. He emphasized that the country’s future lies in preserving peace, both for itself and the broader region.

"Friends, what does our country need most today? Of course, peace and stability. Who, if not the people of Georgia, knows well how much trouble war and destruction bring," he remarked. He reiterated the slogan "No to war!" that has appeared on election billboards, causing frustration among opposition groups.

Kaladze further stressed that radicals seeking to erase these messages are betraying the Georgian people and their desire for peace. He accused such factions of aligning with foreign interests rather than prioritizing Georgia's sovereignty and stability.

Kaladze invoked Georgia’s rich history and resilience, attributing the country’s ability to overcome challenges to its faith, culture, and unity. He praised the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of Georgian Dream, for his contributions to the country's development and stability.

"We are a great nation with a deep history. Georgian people with the greatest culture and history always win when they do not betray their roots, their identity," Kaladze said, reminding the audience of the enduring strength of the Georgian people.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining Georgia’s European identity while staying true to its unique traditions and values. He argued that these elements are key to ensuring a secure and prosperous future.

Kaladze concluded by rallying the public to vote in the upcoming elections to protect the future of Georgia and preserve peace. He described the election as a pivotal moment where voters must reject those who would drag Georgia into chaos.

"On October 26, a man wearing a hat should come out to protect the future of Georgia, to protect peace! On October 26, Georgia will win, the future of Georgia will win, 'Georgian Dream' will win!" Kaladze declared, calling on voters to choose peace and stability for the country.
