Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chairman of Georgian Dream, announced that by 2030, Georgia is highly likely to achieve high-income status according to World Bank rankings. Speaking at a regional event for the Georgian Dream election campaign in Kutaisi, Ivanishvili emphasized that this economic milestone will lead to Georgia joining the ranks of Europe’s wealthy nations.
Ivanishvili expressed optimism about Georgia’s economic trajectory, citing international organizations' positive evaluations and projections. According to him, the country's steady progress is a direct result of Georgian Dream's policies and reforms since 2012.
"By 2030, with a high probability, Georgia will become a country with a high-income status according to the World Bank's gradation, and we will proudly join the ranks of the rich countries of the European Union," Ivanishvili stated. He attributed these future achievements to stable governance and long-term peace under Georgian Dream.
Ivanishvili began his speech by celebrating Kutaisi’s historical role in Georgia, referencing its contributions to the nation’s culture, education, and unification. He reminded the audience of Kutaisi's rich heritage, linking the city’s past glory to the country’s present and future successes.
"Kutaisi has been the main stronghold for our country since time immemorial! It was from Kutaisi that our greatest ancestor started the unification of our country," Ivanishvili said, praising the city’s enduring significance.
Ivanishvili reflected on the successes achieved since Georgian Dream came to power in 2012, contrasting them with the National Movement government, which he characterized as oppressive and anti-national.
He accused the previous regime of stifling freedom, seizing private property, and leading Georgia into war in 2008, which resulted in significant territorial losses and human suffering. In contrast, he argued, Georgian Dream has brought about peace, democracy, and economic stability, paving the way for the country’s European integration.
"As a result, we live in a country based on democracy, rule of law, and respect for human dignity, where fundamental human rights, freedom of opinion, and speech are protected," Ivanishvili remarked.
Ivanishvili emphasized the importance of the Georgian Dream obtaining a constitutional majority in the upcoming October 26 election to secure long-term peace and stable development. He claimed that this level of public support would help block efforts by the National Movement and its foreign backers to destabilize the country.
"In order to ensure long-term peace and stable development, it is necessary to obtain a constitutional majority," Ivanishvili explained, asserting that this would allow the government to enact critical reforms and ensure the protection of family values and the Orthodox Church.
He also mentioned plans to include protections for these values in the constitution while guaranteeing the rights of all religious denominations in Georgia.
Ivanishvili called on voters to make a choice between the National Movement, which he portrayed as war-driven and loyal to foreign interests, and Georgian Dream, which he said represents stability, prosperity, and a path to European integration.
"Considering all this, on October 26, the population of Georgia has a simple choice to make — either a collective radical opposition, where stateless traitors have gathered... or the Georgian Dream, a national political force that has been serving the interests of the country and people for years," Ivanishvili declared.
He concluded with a call for unity and strategic foresight, encouraging citizens to bring Georgia into the European Union as a proud and prosperous nation.
