Giorgi Gakharia, leader of "Gakharia for Georgia," responded to threats from Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream," stating that Ivanishvili’s behavior reflects desperation and loss of emotional control.
Gakharia remarked that Ivanishvili's threats and blackmail are not new, but the public nature of his recent comments, which included threats of criminal cases and arrests against Gakharia and his team, is unprecedented.
"This is not Ivanishvili's first threat... this is the first time this man has come out and publicly threatened criminal cases, arrests," Gakharia said.
He indicated that Ivanishvili's threats demonstrate a lack of rationality and revealed a sense of desperation, asserting that citizens of Georgia share doubts about Ivanishvili's sanity and leadership.
"Such desperate and frightened people as Bidzina Ivanishvili... not only is there no threat maker, but it seems that he is out of emotional control," Gakharia stated.
Gakharia accused Ivanishvili of equating personal disagreement with treason, which he believes undermines the integrity of political discourse in the country. He further mentioned provocateurs allegedly sent by "Imedi" to assert Ivanishvili's perceived strength ahead of the elections.
"What we heard is that he trades the country's foreign orientation for money... those who personally disagree with Ivanishvili... are all traitors," Gakharia added.
Ivanishvili referred to Gakharia as "unfortunate" and criticized members of his party for echoing the narrative of the "National Movement," suggesting they deserve punishment for their actions. He emphasized that the "Georgian Dream" was not actively fighting against the opposition, which has led to no fruitful outcomes.
