Bidzina Ivanishvili, honorary chairman of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, has urged the Georgian population to secure a constitutional majority for his party in the upcoming October 26 elections. He emphasized that such a victory would thwart plans by the opposition "National Movement" and its foreign supporters to destabilize Georgia and drag it into war.

During a speech at a campaign event in Tbilisi, Ivanishvili stated that achieving a constitutional majority would prevent efforts by the "National Movement" and their foreign allies to regain power through revolution and involve Georgia in international conflicts. He stressed that a decisive victory would showcase the trust the Georgian people have in the "Georgian Dream" and secure the country's future.

"The legitimacy of this degree will squelch in the bud the plans of both the coup and the 'collective National Movement' and its patrons, regarding Georgia's involvement in the war," Ivanishvili said.

Ivanishvili reiterated the steps "Georgian Dream" intends to take if it secures a constitutional majority. These include banning the "National Movement" and its allied parties, protecting family values and the interests of minors, and taking measures to strengthen the Orthodox Church at the constitutional level.

"If the government obtains a constitutional majority, we will ban the 'National Movement' and its satellite parties at the level of the constitution... We will make them answer for the war crimes committed against the population of Georgia," Ivanishvili explained.
