Irakli Kobakhidze: The picture we had in the second round of the presidential elections in 2018 is practically being repeated

The picture that we had in the second round of the presidential elections in 2018 is practically being repeated - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the election staff of "Georgian Dream", said at a briefing.

As the head of the government noted, elections will be held in more than 3100 districts out of 3111 districts.

"I will repeat once again that decisive elections are being held today, elections equivalent to a referendum, which is very well understood by the population of Georgia, and that is why it is absolutely logical that a very high turnout is recorded today. The picture we had in the second round of the presidential elections in 2018 is practically repeated. I would like to thank, of course, each voter for the high civic responsibility shown. Each voter's vote is important in the victory that "Georgian Dream" will win. There are only 2 hours left until this victory.

As for the election environment, you can see that overall the elections will be held in a peaceful environment. There are 3111 precincts in Georgia and also abroad, and out of these 3111 precincts, elections will be held peacefully in more than 3100 precincts. There were several districts, where specific journalists of specific TV stations, together with specific groups, would sometimes find themselves together, and the situation was confusing there. However, in the last hour, the situation has stabilized in this regard as well, there are no more such attempts in the precincts, and we hope that the election processes will continue in this way for the next two hours as well.

I will repeat once again that overall the elections will be held in a peaceful environment, more than 3100 out of 3111 precincts will be held in a peaceful environment. Where a particular journalist and a particular grouping was not represented, the elections were held everywhere in an absolutely peaceful situation.

As for our own expectations, we are already guaranteed a convincing victory by a large margin, as evidenced by the data presented, however, we have a higher ambition. We want to get a constitutional majority, which is not guaranteed at this stage. There are still 2 hours left, there are probably more than 200,000 voters to come, therefore, it is necessary to mobilize each voter, a man in a hat, so that we not only win a convincing victory in these elections, not only win with a large margin and gain a solid majority in the Parliament of Georgia. But also to get the constitutional majority, which is our political task.

Therefore, we once again call on our voters to show up at the polling stations as much as possible and to act with maximum responsibility towards their country, and finally, I will say once again that this is a decisive election, war and peace stand on two sides of the scale, immoral propaganda and traditional values, the country's darkness the past stands on one side and the country's bright, European future on the other. Therefore, the responsibility is very big. Once again, of course, I call on every voter to mobilize as much as possible and show up at the polling stations. As for the voters who have already appeared at the precincts, they have already made their choice, I would like to thank them once again," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
