The prosecutor's office summons President Salome Zurabishvili for questioning at the investigative agency due to the statement related to the possible fraud of the elections

The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has been summoned to the prosecutor's office in connection with the statement made regarding the possible falsification of the 2024 parliamentary elections.

This is stated in the statement released by the Chief Prosecutor's Office.

"On the basis of the appeal of the Central Election Commission of October 30, 2024, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has started an investigation into the fact of alleged falsification of the parliamentary elections, with signs of the crime provided for in Article 164³ of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

According to the announcement of the CEC and the information disseminated in the public space through the mass media, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, must possess evidence regarding the possible falsification of the 2024 parliamentary elections, which is why, according to the law, the President of Georgia was summoned to the investigative agency for questioning on October 31 of this year. The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia will conduct all necessary investigative and procedural actions, as indicated in the CEC's directive, at the same time, in order to study the facts voiced by the President of Georgia, individual political parties and representatives of observation missions. Among them, within the framework of the investigation, all those persons who may have information related to the alleged criminal fact will be questioned.

Here, we inform the public that law enforcement agencies are actively conducting investigations on a number of criminal cases in order to study the individual violations detected during the pre-election period and on the election day. The public prosecutor's office will periodically inform the public about the results of the investigation," the statement said.
