Irakli Kobakhidze met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset. The information about this is distributed by the administration of the Government of Georgia.

As reported in the information, the fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe, which makes a significant contribution to the implementation of reforms on the way to European integration of the country, was discussed at the meeting held in Budapest within the framework of the European Political Union Summit.

"The parties also discussed the challenges facing Europe's security and the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. Attention was paid to the role of the Council of Europe in the process of peaceful conflict resolution and confidence building, including through humanitarian projects and dialogue mechanisms. The special importance of the consolidated report of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the annual decisions of the Committee of Ministers was also noted.

The Prime Minister expressed readiness for further deepening of cooperation with the Council of Europe and emphasized the important role of the organization in the process of strengthening democracy, human rights and the rule of law on the European continent," the information said.
