Žygimantas Pavilionis: 3-4 years ago, I noticed that those who criticized the Georgian government there where no longer meetings - this is the Soviet approach

It is very Soviet - I noticed this trend 3-4 years ago, and those who criticized the Georgian government there were no longer meeting, - said the Vice-Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, Žigimantas Pavlionis, thus responding to the explanation of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, as to why he will not meet with the European Union Delegations of 8 country parliaments.

According to him, during the last three years, he was often in Georgia and they could not meet.

"It is very Soviet because I noticed this trend 3-4 years ago, even those who criticized the Georgian government there were no longer meeting. In the last three years, I have come here often, they could not meet. With one small exception, with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. If they criticize you, they usually don't see you anymore, this is the Soviet approach," said Pavillionis.

As he noted, the government of Georgia cannot pass the exam related to joining the European Union.

For information, the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, says that he refused to attend a meeting with a group of members of the parliament of several countries who came to Tbilisi.

According to him, "it is impossible to present Europe as a project of peace and at the same time, in the name of Europe, to sow chaos in the country".

As Papuashvili points out, despite the fact that the Georgian authorities remain committed to promoting dialogue with all relevant and interested parties of the European Union, they cannot respond positively to this intention to hold meetings.
