Nino Kalandadze: There will be no more mediation regarding the entry of the opposition into the parliament from the West, no one will take this risk again

There will be no mediation from the West regarding the entry of the opposition into the parliament, as it was in 2020, Charles Michel also came under a lot of criticism due to this inferior, unsuccessful mediation, not only in Georgia, but also in Europe, because of this, he received a lot of criticism, and no one will take this risk on himself, - the founder of "Chavchavadze Center" Nino Kalandadze said about this "PalitraNews" program announced in "Resume".

According to Kalandadze, the change of leading politicians in the West and the USA cannot affect the attitude towards Georgia, because this issue does not concern individuals.

"The attitude of the West towards Georgia will not change, the decisions of the capitals and, among them, the European position are not tied to the changes of individual players there, therefore, the position that sounds in relation to Georgia, in relation to the "Georgian Dream", in relation to the status of the candidate, in relation to visa liberalization, in relation to further processes. Regarding the suspension, the position will be unchanged. How the disinformation talking heads present it is another matter, but the established fact is that this position will not be revised. Neither will the Trump administration, because not one person makes the decision there either. The United States of America is a state governed by institutions, not individuals. Surprisingly, individual policies are determined by individuals and political administrations among them, but foreign relations issues will not be revised under Trump or the next administration, it is not an issue that is passed on to individuals.

What Bidzina Ivanishvili can expect is that Trump will have different positions in relation to NATO, in relation to Ukraine, which will automatically affect Georgia and, in his opinion, the best decisions for it. The war won't end so quickly just because Trump became president, it won't happen today or tomorrow, unfortunately. In addition, there is a lot of time before Trump's inauguration, regardless of this, we are on the path of integration into the European Union, and there this issue is closed, as long as Ivanishvili rules Georgia - this is a fact that neither Trump nor any other president can change. The only thing that can make this issue reversible is the combination of conditions that should develop in Georgia - maintaining a unified position in the political spectrum, civil society pressure on political parties so that they do not give in to the temptation and legitimize illegitimate power, and therefore the reaction of the West will be, as it will be inside the country.

There will be no mediation from the West regarding the entry of the opposition into the parliament, as it was in 2020, this has already been shown, including the fact that Charles Michel has come under a lot of criticism for this inferior, unsuccessful mediation, not only in Georgia, but also in Europe. He deserved criticism because of this, and no one will take this risk again", said Nino Kalandadze.

According to Kalandadze, since the elections are formally held in the country, this proves that the issue of legitimacy from the West is, to some extent, still important for the "Georgian Dream".

"We must agree that the government, which falsified the elections and seized power, should at least be known as illegitimate both inside and outside the country. Of course, we have no illusions that Ivanishvili's regime is particularly affected by the fact that it will be illegitimate, although this issue worries us, otherwise these processes would not be necessary, if they could have held no elections at all and simply had a dictatorship. Since the elections are held formally, for them the issue of legitimacy is, to a certain extent, important based on pragmatic goals - legitimacy is the basis of certain relations, including the financial aspect, which they need", - noted Nino Kalandadze.
