Administration of the President: the President discussed the issue of systematic election violations with the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag

The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili met the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany, Anton Hofreiter, who visited Georgia as part of his visit to the South Caucasus.

According to the information of the presidential administration, at the meeting held in the Orbeliani Palace, the President of Georgia spoke about the "serious and systematic violations" of the October 26 parliamentary elections and the pre-election period, which had a direct impact on the election results, violated the secrecy of voting, the free expression of voters' will, and the universality of voting.

"The President noted that at the moment the elections are not recognized as free and fair and the Western partners do not recognize the legitimacy of the parliament.

At the meeting, they also talked about the hybrid war waged by Russia in the country.

The President talked to the guest about the plan he developed to overcome the political crisis, which envisages mobilizing and strengthening the support of international partners for holding new elections, as well as using methods of legal struggle.

"The President once again emphasized the non-alternativeness of the European path for the country and the unshakable aspiration of the Georgian people towards European integration," the information says.
