The topics that the opposition is talking about are chosen correctly - I think the time has come that the opposition should try to create at least a coordination headquarters that will make some decisions regarding these or that events, - political scientist Vakhtang Dzabiradze told "InterpressNews".
He assessed the meetings of the opposition and in general their activities during the last days. As Dzabiradze mentioned, the topics that the opposition talks about are correctly chosen because the opposition should agree on these topics in order to continue and plan the next actions.
"As for the street protest, I mean the rallies held near the university, it was mainly Gvaramia-Melia who dominated there, and not the rest of the opposition, despite the fact that they claim that they participated in this process. I think the time has come for the opposition to try to create even a coordination headquarters that will make some decisions regarding these or those events, because there should be complete opposition involvement and the decision should be made by as many opposition parties as possible.
In another way, it should be said that these actions were supported only by an asset, a political asset participates in these actions. Of course, there are citizens who are not in favor of either one or the other, but it is still a political asset in the foreground, and when such a situation exists, it creates a certain nihilism and mistrust in the society that the opposition will not be able to mobilize a real protest charge. The opposition does not seem to be able to agree on a common strategic plan, which is too bad because if the street protests slow down, then it is very likely that the support of the opposition from our partners will decrease. It is quite unprofitable for the opposition, because such a weak opposition, despite the fact that according to the conducted elections, they have 800,000 supporters inside the country, the Georgian political spectrum does not remember it. It can be said that today's opposition is roughly in the same position as it was in 2010-2011, I mean before Bidzina Ivanishvili's speech. Such is the situation today, and therefore, the opposition needs more thought and serious preparation even to continue its activity, than it was at this moment," said Dzabiradze.
