Punitive measures are being taken against young Georgian activists. President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili writes about this on X's personal page.
"Punitive measures [are in progress] against young Georgian activists: beatings by police forces, arrests and threats of up to 7 years of imprisonment. This girl is accused of assaulting five police officers!!!" Zurabishvili writes on the social network and shares a photo of the girl, Lizi Tirkia, who wrote on Facebook: "I got a call from the special investigation service and they tell me that I attacked 5 policemen at the rally, ran away and hid."
For information, on November 19, on Melikishvili Avenue, during the confrontation between the police and the participants of the rally, the law enforcement officers arrested 16 people in an administrative manner. Some of them were released on the basis of the signature. The court sentenced 2 persons arrested on Melikishvili Avenue to 8-day administrative detention, and imposed a fine of 2,700 GEL on one of them. In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested one person on the charge of attacking the policemen at the protest held on Melikishvili Avenue.
