According to Shalva Papuashvili, representatives of the diplomatic corps will not be present at the first session of the Parliament, because he did not invite them

The Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, states that he did not invite the representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia to the first session of the Parliament of the 11th convocation.

As he told the journalists, this is the celebration of the Georgian people and it is the Georgian people who should celebrate the first session of their parliament.

"I already sent the invitations [to the first session of the Parliament of the 11th convocation] the day before yesterday. Government members and representatives of constitutional bodies are invited to the first session of the Parliament. As for the ambassadors, they are not invited to the first meeting. This is our internal, state issue, as far as the elections and the first session of the Parliament are concerned. Among them, in order to minimize the wrong influence of foreigners, the involvement of ambassadors or other countries in this process is not necessary. We Georgians should realize that this is the Georgian Parliament of Georgia, in which the government and constitutional bodies will be represented together with the newly elected members of the Parliament. This is a general approach that I think is important for the Parliament to have. We are dealing with the Parliament of Georgia, constitutional bodies, members of the Parliament, the government will be represented in the Parliament. This is the celebration of the Georgian people, and the Georgian people should celebrate the first session of their own parliament", said Shalva Papuashvili.
