The President: Personal sanctions are much more difficult for the EU - the USA has a better handle on this tool, and as far as I know, there are ongoing conversations between the USA and the EU about what can be done

I have little faith in EU sanctions, - the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, said in an interview with "Mtavari Arkhi".

As Salome Zurabishvili pointed out, the USA manages the sanctions tool better and according to her information, negotiations on the mentioned subject are ongoing between the USA and the European Union.

"I have little faith in EU sanctions as such. There may be restrictions in other forms, restrictions on all the aid on which our budget and our programs depend so much. This will intensify the economic and financial crisis. But personal sanctions are much more difficult for the EU because it depends on consensus rule and 27 countries.

USA manages this instrument better, and as far as I know, there are ongoing conversations and negotiations between USA and the European Union about what can be done," said Salome Zurabishvili.
