Women's March underway in Tbilisi: Protesters block Leonidze Street

A women's march is taking place in Tbilisi from Freedom Square. The participants of the rally have blocked Leonidze Street.

According to the organizers, the march will end at the palace of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream.

The march participants have brought suitcases with inscriptions: “Bidzina, go! I am staying!”, “Georgia, without a longing mother”, “No to forced emigration”, “Emigration is not an option”.

According to Baia Pataraia, the head of the “Safari” union, they will read a manifesto at Bidzina Ivanishvili’s palace and call on him to leave.

“Freedom is what we are gathering here for and what no one can take away from us. We will march to the oligarch, who is our main problem. Bidzina Ivanishvili is telling us today that whoever does not like autocratic Georgia can leave, but we women will come to Bidzina Ivanishvili with suitcases today and say that we are staying and it is time for him to leave! We will have speeches. The car will help us to make these speeches parallel to the march. Already near the oligarch's palace (let's see how far the police will let us go), there will be a performance, we will read our manifesto and once again call on the oligarch to leave. We are not going to go anywhere, we will fight for our freedom to the end,” said Baia Pataraia.

The organizers of the event are: “Women's Movement”, “Safari”, “Women from Georgia”, “Coalition for Changes”, “Coalition for Strong Georgia”, “Unity-National Movement”, Party “For Georgia”.
