Levan Ioseliani: The meeting of the parliament of Georgia of the new convocation was legitimate

According to public defender Levan Ioseliani, the meeting of the parliament of the new convocation was legitimate. As he told the journalists, it is clearly written in the constitution that the Parliament of Georgia must meet no later than 10 days after the publication of the summary protocol.

"There is a parliamentary ombudsman institute in Georgia, which means that the ombudsman writes and prepares a report for the Parliament. Accordingly, where we work and work all year round, it is the Parliament of Georgia to which we submit a report. Therefore, I do not understand the content of your question regarding legitimacy. The Parliament of Georgia met completely legitimately according to Article 38 of the Constitution, which clearly states that after the announcement of the summary minutes, the Parliament meets within 10 days. "All other articles, other reservations, including the constitutional lawsuit, cannot be superior to the text of the constitution, where it is clearly written that the parliament must meet within 10 days, which happened and which was certainly legitimate," Ioseliani said.

According to the Ombudsman, all other issues, including the constitutional claim, are subject to review.

"The Constitutional Court will probably discuss this issue and make an appropriate decision, although this has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the gathering," Ioseliani said.
