The so-called Supreme Court of Donetsk, temporarily occupied by Russia, sentenced Mamuka Mamulashvili to 23 years in prison in absentia, Russian media reports.

Along with the commander of the "Georgian Legion", Mamuka Mamulashvili, the so-called Supreme Court sentenced three more Georgian fighters, Giorgi Rusitashvili, Nodar Petriashvili and Vano Nadiradze to 14 years in prison.

The so-called court sentenced them to imprisonment under the article "Participation of a mercenary soldier in an armed conflict".

"The court established that from April 2014 to May 2024, Mamulashvili recruited mercenary fighters from foreign countries that were not parties to the conflict, preference was given to former servicemen of the Georgian Armed Forces. After that, he trained them and ensured their participation in military operations. For this, the accused received the equivalent of more than 23 million rubles," the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement.
