The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili responded to the removal of specific literary works from the program of the 2025 unified national exams. The President published a statement on social networks, in which he noted that by removing specific works, it becomes clear what national and patriotic idea governs the education system and the state.
"From the list of programs of the 2025 unified national exams, when you remove Ilia's "Bednieri Eri", "Pasukhis Pasukhi", "Gandegili", "Achrdili" and "Otaraant Kvrivi", when you remove the work of Paolo Iashvili and Polikarpe Kakabadze in its entirety or Vazha's "Patriotism and "Cosmopolitanism" ... it is clear what national and patriotic idea it is governed by "Education" system and therefore the state!" said the President.
For information, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia issued a statement regarding the removal of specific works from the Georgian language and literature program of the unified national exams.
As "InterpressNews" was informed by the agency, the new program of unified national exams was based only on the mandatory literature provided by the national curriculum.
According to them, if a particular work is not in the list of the 2025 exam program, it does not mean that it is no longer taught in schools.
