According to Prime Minister candidate Irakli Kobakhidze, the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Georgia and Russia remains one of the government's top priorities.
As he mentioned while presenting the government program to the parliament, the country has red lines in this priority, which are related to the de-occupation of the territories, and these red lines will be protected until the end.
"Since 2012, all these years, the policy of non-recognition has been very successful. Of course, this will continue to be taken care of. When it comes to Georgia-Russia relations, of course, we will have a pragmatic policy. Pragmatic policy is one of the main tools to maintain peace and protect the strategic interests of our country. Peaceful settlement of the conflict between Georgia and Russia will remain one of the top priorities. Of course, we have "red lines", it is related to the de-occupation of the territories of our country. We have our aspirations and these "red lines" will be followed to the end. At the same time, of course, we will maintain a pragmatic policy. Our most important national task is to eradicate poverty and our second most important national task is to peacefully restore our territorial integrity. Achieving this goal depends on global trends and processes in the region. We very much hope that along with the first task, this task will also be properly solved", said Irakli Kobakhidze.
