Irakli Kobakhidze: The EU has to prove that they respect our dignity, the European Union must prove to us that it is also important for us to move towards the EU with peace

We have about 6 years ahead of us, our goal is to join the European Union by 2030 - we are ready to take into account all the conditions that do not contradict the national interests of our country, but there is a certain line that is related to dignity, the European Union also has to prove that they respect our dignity, - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze announced this while presenting the government program to the Parliament.

According to him, the European Union should prove to us that it is fundamentally important for Georgia to move towards the European Union in peace and also to protect the national interests of Georgia.

"Our election slogan was "Only peace, dignity and prosperity to Europe!" This is also the title of our government program. Our aim is to maintain peace firmly, to defend our national interests with dignity, including to gain membership in the European Union with dignity, and our aim is to improve the well-being of our country. Honor comes first and honor is the main guarantee that we will protect our national interests. Our task, as it can be read from our slogan, is to move towards the European Union. It will be a difficult road. We have about 6 years ahead of us. Our goal is to join the European Union by 2030. The EU has its conditions. We should take this into account from beginning to end. Naturally, we are ready to protect and take into account all the conditions that do not contradict the national interests of our country, but there is a certain limit that is related to dignity. The European Union also has to prove that they respect our dignity. When we talk about moving towards Europe in peace, of course, the European Union must prove to us that it is fundamentally important for us to move towards the European Union in peace. When it comes to moving towards the European Union with dignity, here too it is important for the European Union to protect our national interests and traditional values. Therefore, here too, the European Union has something to prove to us, and when it comes to moving towards the European Union with prosperity, I would like to remind you that specific people tried to steer public opinion in the wrong direction. It was presented as if you first have to become a member of the European Union and only after that you can get welfare. In fact, this is a lie. In fact, everything is the opposite. You have to reach a certain level of welfare first, and only then will you be admitted to the EU. Here, too, the European Union must show us that the economic development of our country and the improvement of the well-being of its population are valuable and important to it. I am talking about this for specific reasons. A few months ago, you saw the resolution of the European Parliament, where they demanded the imposition of sanctions, which means, naturally, the collapse of our country's economy. We must see in the future that this kind of thing will not happen again and that the goal of EU bureaucrats and politicians is for the country to develop economically, for the country to have continuous progress, for peace and for the country to walk towards the EU with dignity. This is our top priority. Therefore, of course, we also have to prove to the European Union that we act openly, and similarly the European Union also has to prove to us that it properly respects peace, dignity and prosperity for our country.

In conclusion, as a summary, we can once again pledge to the Georgian society that we will be absolutely transparent, we will clearly fulfill our government program, which will ensure the economic progress of our country, the improvement of the social condition of the population, the strengthening of foreign political positions, and the result of all this will be the fulfillment of our national tasks, joining the European Union. We will consistently move forward, we will move forward to protect our national interests!", Kobakhidze said.
