Prime Minister: On one side there was brutal violence by protesters against police officers, on the other side - extremely disturbing individual incidents - investigation is important

The investigation is certainly important, first of all, for prevention, there was brutal violence against police officers by protesters. Unfortunately, there are people in the country who only focus on the excessive acts of violence committed by one side, but they say nothing about how brutally violent they were, representatives of protesters, representatives of violent groups, against police officers, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated this.

According to him, the protesters used “Molotov cocktails”, pyrotechnics and various types of heavy objects against police officers, which damaged the health of up to 50 police officers, and 20 required surgical intervention.

According to his own assessment, there was systematic brutal violence by the protesters, and “worrying incidents” by the police officers.

“I can show you photos showing the burns that the police officers received during the attack. Various types of materials were used, including Molotov cocktails, pyrotechnics against the police officers, and stones and other heavy objects were thrown at them, which resulted in quite serious damage. More than 50 police officers were injured, 20 police officers required surgery, but there are people who do not talk about this. We are talking about both sides.

There was brutal violence on one side. There were incidents on the other side, extremely disturbing, but isolated incidents. When there is such a situation on two sides, on one side there is systematic brutal violence, but no one talks about it, on the other side there are isolated incidents, but they draw attention to it, this speaks of bias.

We can not be biased, for us violence on both sides is unacceptable, therefore an investigation must be conducted on both sides. When people who commit brutal violence and try to burn police officers are pardoned, such facts incite violence, and after such people do not have the moral right to talk about violence.

Violence begets violence, violence incites violence, therefore everyone must see their own responsibility in all this and we are the government and we have a responsibility to condemn violence in both directions and ensure that such violent facts do not occur in either direction in the future,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
