Irakli Kobakhidze: it is very important to depoliticize schools - over the years, the importance of patriotic education in the curriculum has been diminished, attention should be paid to the proper education of students

It is very important to depoliticize schools. Do you remember, this was the signature of the previous government, and they continue to act with this signature, which is absolutely unacceptable, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the government meeting.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, over the years, the importance of patriotic education and awareness of one's own national identity was minimized in the national curriculum.

"The education system is one of the main priorities, as recent events have shown once again. Naturally, a very large investment should be made both in the direction of school and higher education, as well as in the direction of professional education. You know that we have very ambitious plans in this regard. As for schools, there was a serious problem during the years when the importance of patriotic education, the importance of realizing one's national identity and so on in the national curriculum was minimized as much as possible. Unfortunately, this has taken its toll, however, nothing is too late and everything will be done to ensure that proper attention is paid to the proper upbringing and education of our children, students. It is very important to depoliticize schools, remember, this was the signature of the previous government, and they continue to act with this signature, which is absolutely unacceptable. Everything will be done to make serious progress in terms of school education", said Kobakhidze.

According to the Prime Minister, the development of higher education is equally important.

"As you know, we have a very ambitious project here, which is related to the development of the state university infrastructure of Tbilisi and Kutaisi and the improvement of the teaching content. After 4 years, we will have a qualitatively different environment for our students and a higher quality of teaching for our students, which we will follow according to plan," said Kobakhidze.
