James Risch: The Georgian government is taking brutal measures against pro-European demonstrations and we need to consider how to use the tools at our disposal

We need to consider how to use the tools at our disposal to protect fundamental rights, said Senator James Risch (Republican Party), a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, at a hearing on the "Magnitsky Act" in the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

According to him, during the last week, the government of Georgia has been taking cruel measures against pro-European demonstrations.

"We should always think about how to improve the implementation of the Magnitsky Act in the most effective ways. Over the past week, the Georgian government has been taking brutal measures against pro-EU demonstrations, and we must consider how to use the tools at our disposal to protect fundamental rights and maintain an environment in which people can freely and fairly decide their future," James Risch.

James Risch thanked Senator Jeanne Shaheen (Democratic Party) for organizing the phone call with Salome Zurabishvili and expressed hope for progress.
