Nino Dolidze: There is an attempt to intimidate and put pressure on civil servants - we call on them not to write resignation notices due to different opinions

According to the head of "Fair Elections", Nino Dolidze, about 20 people employed in the public agency consulted them and stated that "hostile environment is being created" for them in the workplace in various ways.

As Dolidze noted at the briefing, similar facts contain signs of discriminatory treatment.

She called on civil servants, in case of pressure, not to write resignation notices due to different opinions and to apply to different organizations.

"We all remember that after "Georgian Dream" made a decision to suspend European integration, civil servants publicly stated their positions in this regard, that they dissociate themselves from such a decision. As of today, more than 2 thousand people employed in the public sector have separated from this decision. Since then, we have seen a number of statements by the leaders of "Georgian Dream". For example, Irakli Kobakhidze's statement regarding public officials that it was self-cleansing. In fact, Irakli Kobakhidze's statement was a threat to these citizens. We also saw Kakha Kaladze's statement regarding reorganization in the City Hall. After that, we heard the statement of the leaders of "Georgian Dream", as if they are going to facilitate the reorganization process and changes in the legislation in this regard. In our opinion, this is an attempt to intimidate and put pressure on those civil servants who remain faithful to Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia and expressed their position regarding the country's European integration. At this stage, we were approached by employees of various public agencies only for consultation because the process of their dismissal has not yet started, but about 20 people approached us. According to them, a hostile environment is created for them at the workplace in different ways, which contains signs of discriminatory treatment. We call upon civil servants, due to different opinions, in case of pressure, not to write resignation notices and to turn to various organizations that help them legally," said Dolidze.

In addition, she noted that disinformation continues to be spread regarding the protests, the purpose of which is to avoid responsibility and discredit the protest. "It is presented as if the actions are not large-scale and few people attend. Anti-Western messages are still relevant", Dolidze said.
