Shalva Papuashvili: The most important thing I wish Mikheil Kavelashvili during his presidency is loyalty to the Georgian people and the Georgian state. This is the only infallible path for any ruler

"The most important thing I wish Mikheil Kavelashvili during his presidency is loyalty to the Georgian people and the Georgian state. This is the only infallible path for any ruler," writes the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, on social media, congratulating Mikheil Kavelashvili on his election as President of Georgia by the electoral college.

As Papuashvili states, "The most important mission and challenge that the new president faces is to set a precedent for acting within the constitutional powers of the presidency."

"Today is a historic day for Georgia!

The Constitution of Georgia, which envisions a fully parliamentary system, has been fully implemented.

Today, the electoral college, in a presidential election held at the Parliament Palace, elected the sixth President of Georgia. For the next five years, Mikheil Kavelashvili will exercise the constitutional powers of the president.

The most important mission and challenge the new president faces is to set a precedent for acting within the constitutional powers of the presidency.

Georgian politics is full of opportunistic politicians who are always ready to step outside the constitutional framework to achieve their narrow political goals, behind which an invisible hand often remains, leaving the public to speculate.

Such forms of abuse of power undermine the foundations of justice, the rule of law, and constitutional order in the country. This is why the primary task of the newly elected president will be the flawless, dignified, and fully responsible execution of the powers entrusted to him.

The most important thing I wish Mikheil Kavelashvili during his presidency is loyalty to the Georgian people and the Georgian state. This is the only infallible path for any ruler," writes Shalva Papuashvili.
