Shalva Papuashvili: Against the backdrop of attacks on the Georgian people and its government by post-Soviet governments of the European Union, the question that 54% of voters have already answered is now being asked by every citizen: do we want to govern ourselves, or do we want to be governed?

Against the backdrop of attacks on the Georgian people and its government by post-Soviet governments of the European Union, the question that 54% of voters answered on October 26 is now being asked by every citizen of Georgia: do we want to govern ourselves, or do we want to be governed? This is the statement made by Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on social media.

"In the context of attacks on the Georgian people and its government by post-Soviet EU governments, the question that 54% of voters answered on October 26 is now being asked by every citizen of Georgia: do we want to govern, or do we want to be governed?" – writes Papuashvili, sharing a video from his speech at a regional event in Mtskheta, part of the Georgian Dream's election campaign, where the Speaker draws a parallel between the elections of October 26, 2024, and the March 31, 1991, referendum.
