Irakli Kobakhidze: We have specific information on five countries, but the list of EU countries opposing sanctions is likely broader

"We have specific information on five countries, but we should assume that the list of EU countries opposing sanctions is even broader, which is very important for us," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during a press conference at the Government Administration.

According to Kobakhidze, the Georgian government has publicly identified five countries that have taken a stance against the sanctions. However, he noted that, following the Council meeting, other nations' representatives, including foreign ministers, made public statements opposing the sanctions in briefings and interviews.

“Accordingly, we have concrete information on five countries, but we believe the list of countries that opposed sanctions is broader, which holds significant importance for us. We will continue consultations with all nations that support the Georgian people,” Kobakhidze emphasized.

This statement underscores the Georgian government’s effort to maintain diplomatic engagement with EU member states that have shown opposition to the sanctions, signaling a broader diplomatic strategy to navigate current challenges in Georgia-EU relations.
