Salome Zurabishvili: The protests in Georgia will not stop!

The ongoing protests in Georgia have a dual purpose: the first is related to the elections, their rejection. “Give me back my vote” is one of the main demands of the protests. The protests will not stop! - Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili stated in her speech in the Italian Parliament.

“Give me back my vote” means new elections. This parliament is not legitimate, just as the Prime Minister approved by it is not legitimate and does not have the mandate to make the decision it made on November 28, which envisages cutting off Georgia’s path to the European Union. This is against the will of 80 percent of the Georgian population,” the President noted.

She spoke about the parliamentary elections held in Georgia and noted that they were Russian-style elections.

“These were Russian-style elections. This was one of the attempts of Russia to interfere. Most of the propaganda during the election campaign was inspired by Russia. Some of the videos were copies of the videos used during the Russian elections. This strategy applies not only Georgia. After Russia failed to achieve its goals in Ukraine, it is trying an alternative to this, which is hybrid warfare against its neighbors. We are the testing ground. The first was Moldova, and they failed to succeed in Moldova thanks to the Moldovan diaspora. Georgia is the next testing ground, and you have another one, very close to you - Romania, where there is another testing ground. I think all of us should be concerned, first of all, Georgia, because our immediate future is now being determined, but all of us should be concerned about the fact that Russia is testing a new strategy. A hybrid strategy, where Georgia was a good test for them because the government helped them. They are Russian puppets, implementing Russian methods and Russian laws. We have Russian law, which we all know. This is the law that allowed Russia to bring its own civil society under control," the President noted.
