Levan Davitashvili: "Business is sensitive to political events. The Prime Minister explained in great detail our government's course, emphasizing that we remain committed to our promises and that we are heading towards Europe with dignity and prosperity, and this path will definitely be successful. This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Deputy Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili, after a meeting with businessmen.
He added that the dialogue with the business community will continue.
"We had a discussion with a broad representation of business. The Prime Minister conducted the meeting in a very interesting dialogue format, with representatives of the largest businesses in Georgia. Businessmen with different positions and views were present—those who support the government's course and those with questions. In this interesting dialogue, I believe all issues concerning Georgian business and, likely, a large part of Georgian society were addressed. The discussion particularly focused on perspectives and visions for the future, including the government's course. Unfortunately, despite many explanations and frequent communication, these issues are still being referenced, including by opposition forces and various groups in society. Therefore, the Prime Minister very thoroughly explained our government's course, emphasizing that we are committed to the promises we made to the people during the election, that we are heading towards Europe with dignity and prosperity, and that this path will undoubtedly be successful. We will ultimately achieve the results we are planning. The Prime Minister discussed all of this in detail. We also touched upon current processes, the extreme polarization in society, and the challenges regarding stability in our country today. Of course, both business and all groups of society want peace and prosperity in our country. Regardless of the political platform of different groups in society or business, I think everyone shares the same desire for more prosperity, a stable, and predictable environment for development in this country.
Business is sensitive to political events. Economic processes are sensitive as well. Therefore, peace and stability are the primary prerequisites for continuing our economic development. As a result, this was the subject of discussion, and we talked about our expectations.
We discussed the forecasts, which I think were quite convincing for a large part of the business community. Of course, the dialogue must continue, and the Prime Minister showed full willingness for this. It was decided that another meeting would be planned in the future, where businessmen with more divergent views will be involved, so they can receive explanations about the policies being implemented in the country," said Levan Davitashvili.
