"I apologize, but Salome Zurabishvili is unparalleled when it comes to making foolish decisions. Nothing she does would surprise us, but we still hope she will refrain from committing such a serious constitutional blunder or legal nonsense, and won't make an even greater mockery of herself," said parliamentary majority MP David Matikashvili, responding to a question about President Zurabishvili possibly dissolving the 11th Parliament.
According to Matikashvili, there is no unison between Salome Zurabishvili and the members of the radical opposition on this matter, and even within the radical opposition, there are individuals who interpret the Constitution rationally.
"Consultations that achieve nothing and are utterly pointless — that's how I would describe the discussions about Georgia by completely incompetent individuals. Any action by Salome Zurabishvili that goes beyond her constitutional mandate would, of course, exceed the bounds of the Constitution and the law.
I apologize, but she is truly unmatched in making foolish decisions. It wouldn’t be surprising if her next step or action surprises the public even more. Nothing from Salome Zurabishvili would surprise us, but there are people beyond her who actually read and understand the Constitution, including within the radical opposition.
From what we know, there is no unison between Zurabishvili and the radical opposition members on this issue. This indicates that even within the radical opposition, the understanding of the Constitution and constitutionalism is not completely lost. There are individuals who interpret the Constitution sensibly.
However, even if this were not the case, the radicalism that Zurabishvili is following paves the way for foolishness everywhere. Nonetheless, we hope she won’t commit such a severe constitutional foolishness or legal absurdity and further embarrass herself," said Matikashvili.
