Court extends investigation deadline for Andro Chichinadze’s case until March 5 - Pretrial detention to be reviewed tomorrow

The case involving actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, and nine other individuals charged with participating in group violence during protests near the Parliament has been consolidated into a single proceeding. Chichinadze’s lawyer, Tornike Miginishvili, provided this information to InterPressNews.

Previously, the cases of those accused of group violence were being handled in two separate proceedings: one for Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, Jano Archia, Ruslan Sivakov, Luka Jabua, and Guram Mirtskhulava, and another for Irakli Miminoshvili, Insaf Aliyev, Tornike Goshadze, and Giorgi Giorgadze.

According to Miginishvili, the investigation deadline for this case has been extended until March 5, following a motion from the prosecution that the court granted.

Tomorrow’s court session will review the pretrial detention measures imposed on the accused, and it will be determined whether they will remain in custody.

For reference, the defendants—Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, Jano Archia, Ruslan Sivakov, Luka Jabua, Guram Mirtskhulava, Irakli Miminoshvili, Insaf Aliyev, Tornike Goshadze, and Giorgi Giorgadze—have been charged under Article 225, Part 2 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which pertains to participation in group violence. This crime carries a sentence of 4 to 6 years of imprisonment.
