"I want to welcome you to this new office, which is an extension of the Orbeliani Palace. It may not resemble the Orbeliani Palace, but the spirit and essence are here, and the role of the presidency continues in this country, which is currently in a very deep crisis," stated Georgia's fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, during a briefing.
According to Zurabishvili, Georgia's constitution is currently being trampled underfoot.
"We are beginning 2025 in a state that Georgia has not experienced in many years, perhaps never in its recent past. Practically, our state, which has been building itself since independence, is now on the verge of collapse. All of its institutions, and foremost the constitution, no longer hold. The constitution is being trampled underfoot, not only in relation to the well-known article reflecting our European and Euro-Atlantic course, which is of paramount importance today," Zurabishvili stated.
