Mamuka Khazaradze: The verdict delivered by the court without evidence punishes peaceful activists for defending Georgia's European future—Georgian Dream is holding them captive

The verdict issued by the court without evidence punishes peaceful activists for defending Georgia's European future, democracy, and human rights. Georgian Dream is holding them captive, said Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of Lelo for Georgia, in response to the decision by Judge Ketevan Jachvadze to keep protesters detained during the demonstrations in custody.

According to Mamuka Khazaradze, it is essential for the European Union and the United States to take measures against Bidzina Ivanishvili's regime, which uses the judicial system to suppress dissent.

"Today, the Tbilisi City Court extended the pretrial detention of 11 participants in the protests.

The verdict, issued without evidence, punishes peaceful activists for defending Georgia's European future, democracy, and human rights. Georgian Dream is keeping them in captivity.

It is crucial for the European Union and the United States to take measures against Bidzina Ivanishvili's regime, which uses the judicial system as a tool to suppress dissent and detain innocent people.

Georgia is currently in a severe political crisis. The only way out of this crisis is through new, fair elections and the release of political prisoners!" Khazaradze wrote on X.
