The investigative commission cannot be one-party; representatives of various opposition parties must also be included – therefore, the functioning of this commission will not be legitimate, says Sergo Chikhladze, the Foreign Secretary of the "Strategy Agmashenebeli" party, in response to the "Georgian Dream's" initiative to create a temporary investigative commission to study the activities of the regime that existed between 2003 and 2012. The conclusion will be submitted to the prosecutor's office to ensure the punishment of the guilty.
According to him, the investigative commission, which the parliamentary majority will form in the legislative body, will be a self-proclaimed commission, like the representatives of the government.
"The creation of the investigative commission has its own procedures, rules, and quotas. The commission cannot be one-party; representatives from various opposition parties must be included. The commission cannot be made up of only one party, but under the 'Georgian Dream' regime, a few people will gather and call it an investigative commission, but it will be a self-proclaimed commission, just like the self-proclaimed Papuashvili, the self-proclaimed Kobakhidze. Therefore, the functioning of this commission will not be legitimate," stated Sergo Chikhladze.
For reference, the leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, announced that in the first week of the spring session, a temporary investigative commission would be created to study the activities of the regime and political officials of the regime between 2003-2012. According to him, "The conclusion approved by the Parliament of Georgia will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and other relevant bodies in accordance with Georgian legislation for further measures and to ensure the punishment of the guilty."
