Gabrielius Landsbergis on Shalva Papuashvili's post: Oppressive regimes should be careful when comparing their opponents to Lithuanians, as Lithuanians have a history of winning such struggles

Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis responded to a social media post by Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, stating that oppressive regimes should exercise caution when comparing their opponents to Lithuanians.

“Oppressive regimes should be careful when comparing their opponents to Lithuanians, as Lithuanians have a history of winning such struggles,” Landsbergis wrote.

This remark comes in response to Papuashvili’s comment on a protest held outside the restaurant Babylon against a corporate gathering of judges. Among other banners, one read “Spit In Their Food.” Papuashvili had posted on social media, describing the act of spitting in food and similar behind-the-back actions as a "Lithuanian style" and labeling it a historically disgraceful behavior.
