Paata Manjgaladze on the "Georgian Dream" Political Council's statement: "It borders on madness, but it's also betrayal"

"It borders on madness, but at the same time, it is outright betrayal," said one of the leaders of "Strategy Aghmashenebeli," Paata Manjgaladze, in response to the "Georgian Dream" Political Council's statement regarding potential sanctions against the party’s honorary chairman, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

According to Manjgaladze, international partners are not harming Georgia but rather the government that obstructs the Georgian people's path to Europe.

"When they claim that sanctioning Ivanishvili would damage Britain’s reputation and its commitment to democracy and freedom, it is as absurd as their earlier claims that advising Ivanishvili not to pursue his lawsuits in Swiss banks would supposedly collapse Switzerland's banking system. It’s ludicrous to believe such insanity," said Manjgaladze.

He emphasized that decisions made by Georgia’s international partners to support the country and its citizens are the result of the people who have continuously protested on Rustaveli Avenue for 50 days.

"Despite evidence of election fraud and numerous public statements, if people hadn’t taken to the streets, there wouldn’t have been a reaction from our partners. When democracy and a country’s future are at risk, friends act as the United States and Britain have. They are not harming Georgia but rather the government that stands in the way of the Georgian people benefiting from all that Europe has to offer," Manjgaladze added.

For context, the "Georgian Dream" Political Council stated that if sanctions were imposed on Bidzina Ivanishvili, it would clearly show that the "deep state" had reduced Great Britain to the level of Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, and the European Parliament, which they described as a particularly tragic development.

The statement expressed "extreme concern" that a country like Great Britain had been turned into "yet another toy of the deep state," also referred to as the "global war party," in the same way as Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, and the European Parliament.
