Mikheil Saakashvili: I didn't know who Murusidze was at all, I had never heard that name - I feel like I'm in a nightmare

“They often say: ‘The Murusidzes and something were there during Saakashvili’s time.’ I didn’t know who Murusidze was at all then. I hadn’t heard that name,” the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, said during a remote connection to the trial.

As Saakashvili noted, during his presidency, “the court was not the center of anything, the country was oriented towards development and the future.”

“They often say: ‘The Murusidzes and something were there during Saakashvili’s time.’ I didn’t know who Murusidze was at all then. I hadn’t heard that name. The court was not the center of anything. The court was somewhere, over there. The center of life was oriented towards something else, towards the development and future of the country. They turned politics into actions of arrests and beatings,” Saakashvili noted.

In addition, Saakashvili also spoke about relations between America and Georgia and noted that he feels like he is in a nightmare, because the partnership agreement signed during his time has been “turned upside down.”

“You think you will judge me and punish me for something with your so-called court and then calmly sort out relations with America. You can count on that... I think our people will decide differently. The partnership agreement signed during my time has been turned upside down and I looked and Armenia signed this agreement. I feel like I am in a nightmare,” Saakashvili noted.
